Saul... He looked the part... Sometimes you get what you ask for...
Today on the Daily Nugget, Mike looks at the calling of Saul and a sobering truth about God sometimes allowing us to have what we insist we want—even when He has warned us that it isn't what is best for us. Israel wanted a king who looked like the kings of the nations around them, and Saul seemed to be the perfect fit: tall, strong, and handsome. Yet from the very beginning, we see another side of Saul—when the time came to present him as king, he was hiding among the baggage. Saul's kingship started with great promise, but his fear, insecurity, and disobedience eventually led to his downfall. What are we asking God for that may look right to us but isn't actually what is best? Are we willing to trust God's wisdom instead of demanding our own way?
